West Palm Beach FL (February 13, 2023)- Rolando Chang Barrero pairs up with renowned Cuban filmmaker Hugo Navarro to present SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW: Colors and Culture of The LGBTQA+ and HIEROSCOPIA-USA as part of The City of West Palm Beach Pride Month and other Countywide Pride Month events.

The kickoff off event will be held at The Box Gallery, located at 811 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, beginning on March 4th, 2023 and engaging the public throughout the month with Video and Film Screening, Roundtable discussion, workshops, and series of presentations.

Both projects are developed to celebrate and educate guests of all ages of the contributions by creatives in all disciplines in the arts locally, nationally and internationally. The projects are focused on the rich, vibrate yet often overlooked intersections of the LGBTQA+ community, the visual and performing arts including literature, film, video, and music.

Curated by Rolando Chang Barrero, Muse Award winner for Cultural Leadership by The Cultural Council for the Palm Beaches, and the recently exiled Cuban filmmaker and director Hugo Navarro who began HIEROSCOPIA Festival in Nuevitas, Cuba, the month long events provide insight into the dynamic world of Latino, Asian, Black and Anglo LGBTQ+ culture.

The theme "Colors and Culture" of LGBTQA+ community is an acknowledgment and celebration of the perseverance of the multidimensional and diverse sectors of the LGBTQA+ community that are confronted with additional biases: race, colorism, immigration status, education and classism inclusive.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow Group Exhibition features over 20 artists who explore the colors and culture of the LGBTQA+ community. Curated by Rolando Chang Barrero the exhibition focuses on the intersectional realities and personal interpretations of the artists.

HIEROSCOPIA-USA video and film screenings on Sunday, March 5th, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. showcases audio-visual work created by El Movimiento Audiovisual en Nuevitas. The presentation incudes a talk by organizer Hugo Navarro and selections of the HIEROSCOPIA film festival created by Hugo Navarro and his brother Pedro Navarro to give voice to the otherwise disenfranchised creatives in Cuba. A meet and greet with many of the actors and writers will follow this special presentation.

The Importance of Storytelling
Artists, community advocates and leaders will gather for a roundtable discussion and workshop on "The Importance of Storytelling" that will take place on Thursday, March 9th, 2023 at 7 p.m.
