Both projects are developed to celebrate and educate guests of all ages of the contributions by creatives in all disciplines in the arts locally, nationally and internationally. The projects are focused on the rich, vibrate yet often overlooked intersections of the LGBTQA+ community, the visual and performing arts including literature, film, video, and music.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow Group Exhibition features over 20 artists who explore the colors and culture of the LGBTQA+ community. Curated by Rolando Chang Barrero the exhibition focuses on the intersectional realities and personal interpretations of the artists.
HIEROSCOPIA-USA video and film screenings on Sunday, March 5th, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. showcases audio-visual work created by El Movimiento Audiovisual en Nuevitas. The presentation incudes a talk by organizer Hugo Navarro and selections of the HIEROSCOPIA film festival created by Hugo Navarro and his brother Pedro Navarro to give voice to the otherwise disenfranchised creatives in Cuba. A meet and greet with many of the actors and writers will follow this special presentation.
