Palm Beach County Community leaders celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Several Hispanic Heritage Month ceremonies are planned for the next few weeks in Palm Beach County. WPBF's Angela Rozier takes a look at one that happened Wednesday afternoon.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —Palm Beach County elected officials and community leaders gathered in West Palm Beach on Wednesday to stand in unity as they celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The event took place at The Box Gallery located in the 800 block of Belvedere Road.

Local fashion designers, community activists and a visiting artist from Colombia were also invited to speak at the ceremony.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the contributions and importance of Hispanics in the United States.

"We're 30 countries and the wealth that we have here represents all those different countries here in Palm Beach County," said Rolando Chang Barrero, with The Box Gallery.

More events are planned for the next several weeks.
