Intersectionality:Artist and Curator Roles in Social Justice Work
Speaker:
Rolando Chang Barrero
Curatorial concerns when creating or presenting artworks anchored within the context of Social Justice. Schisms among artists themselves and in relation to curator, presenting organization, gallery, and/or museum.

Rolando Chang Barrero, artist, independent curator, and owner of The Box Gallery who has recently been awarded the Cultural Council for the Palm Beaches Muse Award for Cultural Leadership will talk about his work as an artist, arts organizer, and as curator of exhibitions that focus on social justice.
Understanding how aspects of the artist and/or curator's social and political identities combine to create different modes of discrimination, particularly when gender, sex, race, class, sexuality, religion, inform the work of an artist.
