Artists as Activists Call to Artists – DATE CHANGE
May 14 – June 26, 2021





Artists have long been the harbingers of community problems, the ones to sound the alarm of danger to our democracy or bring a crucial awareness to a social issue. This exhibit will feature artists who create socially engaged art and inspire a dialogue within the community.

VISION

Artists currently working in fine craft* creative disciplines who are incorporating current social justice themes into their work, from climate change to elder care, are invited to explore, discover, and create works that may challenge the status quo, prompt conversations, and effect change from old narratives.

Content, context, mastery of craft, best use of media, as well as, definitions and interpretations of “political vs. social justice” art will be brought forth for the artist and viewer alike.

Featuring work by artists from around America, this exhibition will highlight current Florida and national issues, trends, and innovations that impact our society.

Florida CraftArt invites emerging, mid-career, and established artists to submit recent original work in the following categories: *Ceramics, fiber, jewelry, metal, mixed-media, sculpture, and wood.

1. Artists are invited to submit up to five recent works related to the Artists as Activists theme.

4. Jurying process: A jury panel will use your digital images to select entries based on originality, creativity, quality and complexity of workmanship, artistry and impact as represented in the images submitted.

Entry Requirements
• Up to 5 pieces, using fine craft techniques, completed after January 1, 2017 may be submitted.

Pieces that have been on prior exhibit at Florida CraftArt are not eligible.
• All formats of fine craft art will be considered, including wall-hung, free-standing,

suspended or pedestal mounted and art to wear.
• Work must be original in concept, design, and execution.
Work created as part of a class or workshop or from a kit is not eligible.
• Each artist may submit up to five artworks. and to
• No substitutions for accepted artwork will be allowed.
All work must remain on display until the conclusion of the exhibit June 26, 2021.

Florida CraftArt members: $25 for up to 5 works
Nonmembers: $40 for up to 5 works
LATE entry fees
Florida CraftArt members: $35 for up to 5 works
Nonmembers: $50 for up to 5 works
