Artist Rolando Chang Barrero to create activist work in support of March For Our Lives at Art Boca Raton this Sunday at 1 PM

A long standing project that began in 1998, the "Pajaros" served as memorials (epitaphs) to lives lost due to the AIDS pandemic.
The 5 year long memorial to friends that died of AIDS concluded in 1993 when Rolando was diagnosed with brain cancer and enter an 18 hiatus
from the art world.

In 2011 Rolando Chang Barrero returned to painting with a series of Pajaros, sans the trademark red tear on the eyes of his "Pajaros."

On June 12, 2017 on the 1 year anniversary of the Orlando Pulse Murders, where 49 victims were killed and 52 injured, he initiated the red tears on 49 of 101 birds painted on the windows of The Box Gallery in West Palm Beach to reflect the lives lost in the gruesome killings. Video

On Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Art Boca Raton fair Rolando Chang Barrero will present a participatory work to pay homage to the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas massacre. This effort is to raise awareness and support the students that have organized the March For Our Lives scheduled to take place on March 24, 2018.
